MELASTI BEACH RESORT
We've got mixed feelings about the Melasti. It definitely is not five star! But, nevertheless it was pretty good value. We paid $35.00 Australian extra for a suite (that's NOT pp/pnight but TOTAL of $35.00 for both of us, for the whole 5 nights). The rooms were enormous with a separate sitting room. Also, another huge bed and a reasonably priced mini bar. At all the other hotels we would buy our drink from the markets and stash it in the mini bar next to the over-priced hotel's. At the Melasti we were quite happy to pay use the mini bar and pay their prices. (GOODNIGHT!). The restaurant was in a nice setting, straight across the new road from the beach. Included brekkies were also pretty good BUT . . . . Aussie Yobboes! - And a rather tired pool area. Look, to be fair we're only talking about a handful of Yobboes, but it was pretty unfair when they partied on to 4:00 or so in the morning! The management ended up closing the pool from 8:00pm. Some of the other guests were concerned at the fully-clothed drunks jumping in the pool after mid-night. The hawkers here are pretty good too, staying close to the low wall separating the beach from the road. Another larrikan hawker here - "Alexander the Great".
